First day of fall 10.5.11
Fur vest: Forever 21, White shirt: Old Navy, Black leather boots: Target, Brown leather bag: Nordstrom
I could smell it on the crisp, cool breeze that sweeps up already-fallen leaves, then scatters them into puddles, formed after an overnight rain that scrubbed the earth clean. Chill nipped my bare hands, sending the first shivers of the season zipping up my spine. I sloshed my way to school, all the while wishing I could curl up in bed with a nice novel, a fleece blanket and a hot cup of tea.
Today it finally felt like fall.

weekender 9.3.11
A casual outfit (my Forever 21 jean jacket, a loose, sea foam colored Urban Outfitters tank, and dark wash skinny jeans w/ my tribal print bag from China and a flower hair accessory :)), for a casual Saturday. Walked through a vintage market and had amazing pizza and pastries from a cute little coffee shop with my mom and a good friend. What would we do without the weekend?

Lace tank 8.3.11
Today I wore a lace tank top from Nordstrom Rack and a pair of black skinny jeans from Forever 21 (the ring in the first photo is also one of my favorites from Forever 21). I paired my light grey lace tank with a white tube top, not only because it best showcases the texture of the shirt, but because, well, you just can't wear this tank by itself. I love lace, I really do, but it can be tricky sometimes, as it is usually see-through, which makes it unwearable on its own. Choosing a top to go underneath a lace garment is more of an art than a science: it has to be just right. You can't have the color or texture of the undershirt take away from the lovely lace on top can you? :)

Sketch 8.21.11
This is a quick sketch I did (with a little help from pixlr) of a 70's blouse with front pockets and voluminous sleeves, paired with two large cuff bracelets, a pencil skirt, and a clutch. I'm on the lookout for a similar blouse for fall, but haven't seen anything like it on the racks recently. If only I had the time and skills to make this top!
I find myself lamenting about this a lot. I will have a piece in my head that I am dying to wear and I'll search high and low in my local stores but can never find it!
Anyone else feel the same?

Flower Child
Jacket-Forever 21, Dress-Marshalls, Flower hairpiece-Charlotte Russe, Bag-Urban Outfitters
I have been on the hunt for a jean jacket for a couple of months now, and finally came across one in Forever 21's online store. I ordered it in a small, and it is still slightly too big, but I don't feel too badly about the fit because it wasn't very expensive. You know you've bought a great piece when you bring it home and can immediately and effortlessly start to make outfits with it :)

This color palette feels very 70’s :) The decade was huge on the runways for spring and fall!
My skirt and the outfit remind me of Gucci's Spring RTW collection, specifically my favorite look.Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Black Chiffon
I wore this dress out on a quick trip to make some returns and ended up getting a handful of compliments on it! I bought it from a little shop in Hong Kong on my last day. I love the swishy skirt, the mesh upper, and the little pockets on the front :)

6.6.11
I've been slacking in the style photography department lately. Call it summer fever, or pure laziness. I've been enjoying my first few carefree days preparing for a big trip to Asia, doing some much needed little to-do list items, and catching up on all of the books and magazines I didn't have time to fully read during the school year.
It doesn't quite feel like summer yet in my town. The weather has been perpetually gloomy, and I feel like I'm dressing for fall instead of summer (one of the many reasons I haven't gotten a chance to take new photos).
Has summer reached you yet?
I did a lot of shopping this last weekend, both for fun, and in preparation for my trip, so I have a lot of stuff I want to share with you guys :)

Normaluisa FW 11/12
I really love these two looks that knightcat posted a while ago of the normaluisa fw 11/12 collection. I love the detailing on the shirt in the first photo. And the second look is just genius. (I mean, what a combo!) It looks so comfy and chic and current. I'm really drawn to big, wide-brimmed 70's hats, especially for summer, and I would definitely say they were one of the features that drew me in to this collection.

Feeling Patriotic
Shirt: Random $10 store in Santa Barbara, CA; Pants: Forever 21, Headband: Charlotte Russe
My sister told me today that I looked like the fourth of July, which I took as a compliment because I LOVE this color combo! This outfit was perfect for the bipolar weather we had today. (This morning it was cold, overcast and raining and currently it's at least 70 degrees and sunny! Go figure.)

Rompin around
It was really hot yesterday so I whipped out this romper that I picked up at Forever 21 over the weekend. Most loose rompers are unflattering on my body, but this one has a little belt that came with it that nips in my waist and gives me some shape.
I’m off to interview for the Nordstrom Fashion Board, wish me luck!

Got this dress while I was in LA. The color is nice and bright, and the fabric is loose and comfy, which makes it perfect for summer. I wore it to a family get together today :)

Free People May 2011
I have been really drawn to vintage inspired dresses lately, specifically the silhouettes of the 60's and 70's.
I just think this one from Free People is adorable! Now if it only wasn't so darn expensive...
A couple of photos from Free People's May and music festival catalogues... I have to say, nothing beats their April catalogue. I still can't get over the genius color and texture mixing in that shoot.

Printed Dress
Dress-Target, Sandals-Steve Madden
My sister actually got this dress for herself, then didn't like it when she tried it on, so I happily scooped it up :)
One week of huge tests ahead of me then I will have plenty of time on my hands to take lots and lots of pictures. The weather has been so nice recently! All I want to do is slip on a sundress, read a nice book and drink a cool glass of water in the sunshine... too bad I have to study.

Abigail Breslin's coat
[http://www.reelmovienews.com/gallery/abigail-breslin-and-sarah-jessica-parker-on-new-years-eve-set/]
I was flipping through People magazine when I came across this photo of Abigail Breslin and Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of their upcoming movie New Year's Eve and had to repost it because I am in love with Abigail's coat! Pretty color, classic and flattering cut = perfect for spring! I will definitely have my eyes peeled for a similar one, maybe in a slightly more muted shade.
Can anyone think of a word to describe the color? It's no exactly orange, and its not exactly red...
