REMIX Challenge Update
Sorry folks, but I've decided to postpone my proposed REMIX Challenge. I didn't realize when I suggested it that it would take so much time! With school I just can't photograph outfit remixes and get my homework done. Unfortunately in this evil world homework is more important; depressing, but unavoidable. There will still be the usual weekly outfit posts though!
1/31/11
Keeping my eyes open for a chiffon skirt (either long, like the first photo, or short, like the second) in a coral color. I think I'm leaning towards the shorter skirt but can't decide... Thoughts?

I adore this outfit because its feminine and kind of funky. The shoes and the textured sweater give it a little edge. And you can never go wrong with a wide-brimmed hat like the one she's sporting. Love it!

This American Apparel skirt would be perfect for spring and summer!

Oxford Flats
These are my favorite pair of flats! I got them over the summer randomly at a Nordstrom Rack store. I usually wear them for fancier occasions because that's where they seem most appropriate (and they are also not the most comfortable long-distance shoes either). But I don't care because I just love them and their cute oxford look :)
P.S. The better lense for my family's camera is still on the fritz. Booo...

Defunct
My family's good camera is broken :(. Something is loose in the lense. I was planning on doing an outfit post today but that will have to wait until later in the weekend unfortunately (or at least until I can find my own camera...).

We had the cutest old man as a substitute in my psychology class today. He was wearing a funky, bright patterned knit sweater with Alexander Wang-esque elbow pads. (I bet he bought it before Alexander Wang was born, and seeing as he was about 80 and male he probably didn't care all that much about style when he put it on this morning.)
But his sweater reminded me that I was planning on putting elbow pads on my gray blazer just to add a little character. (a similar idea below)

It's relatively simple to do, but I just keep hesitating because I don't want to ruin a timeless piece...
Any thoughts? Should I go for it?

Loves
A few pictures I've picked up recently and not so recently :) Hope everyone is having a great week!
I love the sparkly dress with the rugged jacket, and the texture that it creates!

Love the fur and the colors of this photo.

This outfit is so fun and feminine! Definitely going to try to recreate this come spring and summer.
This is the blogger behind because im addicted (love her blog!). The sunglasses and coat are so cute!

I LOVE this man's scarf, specifically the extra embroidery! Bring on the texture :)
[theglamouri]
These shoes are fun and feminine. If only I could wear heels to school... If only :)
[stockholm streetstyle]
If I wore heels, I would totally wear these.
[christeric]
These ones remind me of Betty Boop :) How adorable!

1/21/11 Striped Dress
Dress- Forever 21, Leather Jacket- Saks Off Fifth, Boots-Steve Madden, Earrings- Forever 21
I love this dress! It is nice and stretchy and comfy. Like an old t-shirt. And the back, so cute! That little bow is probably one of the best parts :) Well and the fact that it only cost me... wait for it... $12! A score I believe. Its also nice because I can wear it with the various navy blue skirts that I own as a top when the weather warms up.
How do you feel about this outfit? Comment below!

Cape Town
Cape-Volcom (TJ Maxx), Pants- Forever 21, Boots- Steve Madden
So this is the cape :) The cape is Volcom brand but I got it at TJ Maxx (a discount store) for $20! It's pretty warm but a tad itchy because its wool. The shape is nice though. The cropped cut keeps short little me from looking like an overweight blob.
I love these cargo pants too! They're pretty comfy and such a nice green color.
Below is a photo of my outfit without the cape.
The top is from a store called Lefties in Spain (I am pretty sure its Zara's discount store, but don't quote me on that one). Can never go wrong with a nice black and white striped shirt :)

Parka Remix
Parka- H&M, Top- Forever 21, Skirt- H&M, Boots- Steve Madden
This is my first remix of sorts. This is the parka from my last post, but this time I wore it with a floral top from Forever 21, a skirt from H&M, and my Steve Madden boots (are you sick of them yet? I know I'm not :)).
I haven't been able to post as often as I'd like because school/homework has been consuming my free time, but when I get the chance I'll take some more shots of my parka remixes and post them!

Rain, Rain Go Away
It's been really dark and rainy where I live :( and so the past few days its been really hard to take outfit photos to post. But today I just decided to go for it. In real life, the jacket isn't nearly as orange or...err... plastic as it looks, in this photo (flash is not my friend) but you get the gist :) Not exactly the most creative look, but it's comfy and warm and has become the outfit that I just throw on when I'm in a hurry and don't know what to wear.
Brown Faux-Leather Jacket-Sakks Off Fifth, Jeans-Zara, Boots- Steve Madden, Belt-Nordstrom
I recently got a cape that I'm excited to share with you guys, so hopefully tomorrow will be sunnier so I can get a nice photo of it!
On another note, I've been obsessively searching for a not-to-long, not-to-short, not-to heavy, not-to-shapeless olive green parka after seeing a photo of Amee from Song of Style wearing a really cute one a few weeks ago. While I was out and about earlier this week I decided to stop into H&M and, there it was. Not the same parka of course but one that fit all of the above criteria and is not ridiculously expensive.
So I have a lot to share with you guys (I'm planning on working on the Remix Challenge this weekend as well) so you can expect lots more posts coming your way! Off to work on the Spanish homework that I probably should have started an hour ago... ahh why does Blogger have to be so addicting.

REMIX Challenge
So I've been following Kendi from Kendi Everyday and her posts have helped me reevaluate my closet. In the process, I've realized that I wear about 60% of my clothes. And what happens to the other 40%? It sits, and sits, and sits. In an attempt to make use of this 40% (or give myself justification to give some of it away) I've come up with a plan. I've taken Kendi's 30 for 30 idea, walked it back a few steps and... drum roll please.... I am starting my own similar challenge, which I'm calling the "Remix Challenge." Once a week I'll choose one piece of clothing, and make as many different outfits using it as possible. Its going to take some creativity to keep it going longer than a few weeks, but I hope that this will help me make smarter purchases in the future. And maybe reduce that 40% to a much nicer 10%.

H&M Trench
I got this H&M trench coat a few months ago and I have been wearing it constantly. (And at $35, it was definitely one of my best purchases of 2010!)
I'm wearing the coat with jeggings that I got from TJ Maxx. (You can't see my feet but I'm wearing my off-white oxfords that I got in Madrid.)

Polka Dotted
This is the same H&M dress that I last posted about :) Sometimes I forget that it’s winter until I step outside and get hit by a chilly gust of wind. Winter’s only halfway over and I already can’t wait for spring! (see bare arms)
During the day I wore this outfit with an off-white scarf from Target and my black peacoat, both necessities now that I am back in school and have to deal with frost-bitten mornings.
Hopefully now that I'm back to a routine I can return to posting more regularly.
Hope 2011 has started out to be a great year for everyone! I know it has for me :)
