Los Angeles

I got back yesterday from my weekend trip to Los Angeles with my dad. It was absolutely one of my all time favorite weekends! I have the best dad in the world. He and my mom are the top role models in my life, and I am so lucky to have them as parents :)

This is a (slightly blurry iPhone pic) photo of yours truly in the Universal Studios Prop Warehouse where they house everything from telephones and fake weapons to furniture that is used in the movies produced on the Universal Studios sets. The weather was slightly cool, but held for the first two days of my trip. On the last day, though, it poured and poured like nobody's business.

I have a lot of work to catch up on, so I'm going to be posting photos from the trip here and there throughout the next few days as I get around to them.

Even though yesterday was technically the first day of spring, the sun is nowhere in sight :( And Yahoo Weather forecasts that the rest of the week will be similarly dismal.

The weather is growse... again. I am so ready for this winter to be over!

These are the new boots that I got a few days ago because they were on super sale... I'm sure they'll show up in some outfit posts in the future (which will hopefully be soon... if the weather decides to cooperate).

Some inspiration on this bittersweet Saturday. I feel slightly guilty because I am having a beautiful, wonderful day, while halfway across the world there are citizens in Japan who are dealing with death and destruction caused by the tragic earthquake. Its hard to understand how such a duality can exist on the same planet. All I can do is be grateful for my health and safety, and pray to God that neither I or my family ever have to go through anything as horrible in our lifetimes.

The sun was blazing a few days ago when my brother shot this for me … and unfortunately it washed me out! But at least you can still see the dress :) I added a little red belt because I felt like it was just too plain by itself, which seems almost paradoxical considering the crazy print (that is actually much lighter in this photo than it is in real life).

Pop of Color

Top- Forever 21 Striped Dress, Skirt-Zara, Scarf- Vintage



Like a little burst of sunshine, this scarf can brighten up any outfit. I found it at a thrift store for $7 a few months ago, because it looked exactly like a scarf from Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 collection! It has a slightly neon hue that makes it almost identical. Bright accents have been showing up everywhere it feels like…

It’s almost officially SPRING! Look at the blooming flowers behind me! And the gorgeous sun!

I have finals this week... booo, which means lots of studying and not a lot of sleep unfortunately.

Sketch-American Apparel

Chiffon.

This is my drawing (VisualBasic-style) of an American Apparel ad (posted below) that I'm obsessed with and keep seeing everywhere. The ad is about chiffon -both the skirt and the top are made out of chiffon- which I am loving right now! I'm going on a trip to Los Angeles in a few weeks (part of last year's birthday present) and I can't wait to go to the American Apparel store and stock up on chiffon chiffon chiffon :)

This is an outfit that I wore last week on one of the sunny days. The necklace that I'm wearing is from a street vendor in Morocco and it definitely spices up this otherwise simple outfit; it adds a littly funky, a little glam I think :)

Singing in the Rain

It was raining today, hence the umbrella. I seriously love this umbrella, not only because it keeps me from getting soaked on days like this, but just because it is so darn cute! I tied my skinny brown belt around my waist to give this oversized shirt a tad more shape. You can sort of see it peeking out from under my arms (that I just realized are slightly obscuring it in the photo above… oops ha ha).

I've been on the lookout for an umbrella like this one for a while, so when I randomly came across this one in some obscure pharmacy, it was hard to resist the urge to jump up and down at my luck :)

Clutch

I have been wanting to DIY a big, leather clutch so badly ever since Gemma from fade to black made her own about a year ago (see below).

And then this little clutch pops up on the arm of Carolina of Fashion Squad and now I am feeling some serious envy.

It seems like a clutch like the one above would be very practical, but I'm not sure how much use a kid like me would get out of it... though it would work well as a laptop case if it was big enough.. hmm.. I'll try to tackle this DIY once school isn't so busy...

2/22/11 Outfit



This is one of my new favorite shirts that I just recently bought! It is so light/airy and I love the color. These jeans are new too actually. You can't really tell in this photo but they have little pockets on the side of the thighs.

I'm kind of dissapointed because it was actually sunny today (perfect for a photo) but by the time I got around to actually taking the photo it was getting dark so... ugh... more dark photos until the long days of summer reach my part of the world.

2/21/11 Sketch/Update

Above is a quick sketch of my interpretation of an outfit that I saw while I was watching a video of the Free People, or the Urban Outfitters lookbook (I can't for the life of me remember which!).

I was the winner of Going West's recent giveaway! I purchased two pairs of sunglasses and a ring at shopcalico.com and they should be on their way to my house as we speak. I'll post some photos once they arrive :)
