Revolve Styleguide

Revolve recently teamed up with some of the ladies of Chictopia (some who happen to be fellow bloggers) for their new Styleguide. Here are my four favorite looks:

Home Sweet Home

I'm back :) I missed blogging while I was in Spain and Portugal, and though my vacation was amazing, it feels equally as nice to be home. Though I couldn't blog while I was away, I was never very far from fashion. All of you Spaniards are darn lucky to live amongst so many fashionable people and near so much good shopping. I couldn't muster the courage to ask everyday-fashionable-street people if I could take their picture, so you're just going to have to take my word for it... the fashion was gorgeous. Khaki was/is definitely a Spanish summer staple. I must say the stylish people of Barcelona and Madrid know how to work their khaki. Its not surprising that everyone was so fashion forward as there was atleast one Zara or H&M in every city! In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I die."

My trip also reminded me of my love of great jewelry, of which there was an abundance. Turquoise, turquoise, turquoise (my favorite) everywhere. Rings, neclaces, cuffs. Real stones and cheapies. I ended up getting two cuffs, a ring, a braided bracelet and two neclaces. (below)

I also found a delicate, vintage neclace from the 30's or 40's with Nefertiti (the wife of an ancient Egyptian pharoah) on it!

Oxfords! Finally... I've only been talking about getting a pair for like the past nine months...

I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer!

Hippie Bundle

[the killing moon]

With a little research I found out that this look is part of Arabella Ramsay's Lookbook for 2010. I really like her boots alot! They remind me of some Minnetonka booties I wanted last season but didn't get around to buying. And the really thick scarf reminds me of a snood, which automatically makes it cool :). The model, with her facial expression and rumpled hair, reminds me of a little kid, whose mom just smothered her in layers of clothes so she could go out into the snow to play. Hmm... but shorts? Not a good choice mom :) But seriously... I actually like the shorts with these other pieces because it keeps the look from becoming completely like the comparison above, and the outfit from looking totally overwhelmed.

These are my two favorite dresses/skirts from Calla Haynes Spring/Summer 2010 collection. She has some great designs that are all focused around a vivid, modern print. For more of her designs visit her site [ www.calla.fr].

The Green Shows

This year at Fashion Week there were special eco shows (dubbed The Green Shows) that graced the New York runway. The Green Shows weren't all made up of the bohemian loungewear that comes to mind when one thinks eco clothing; there was great variety in the styles. This variation in the shows was obviously chosen to shake the stereotype of eco clothing by showing that it can be very modern and translated to styles across the board. The current ecological state with all of the (good and necessary) hoopla about global warming and destruction of the enviroment really show the glaring importance of sustainable fashion. I do hope and believe that these shows were a peek into the future.

(The designs above are some of my favorites from the Mr. Larkin (an ecological study) collection. Check them out here: http://mrlarkin.net/ )
